Turning 40 is a major milestone for an individual that is worth celebrating. For a company, it is an even bigger deal! According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 20% of U.S. small businesses fail within the first year. By the end of their fifth year, roughly 50% have faltered. After 10 years, only around a third of businesses have survived. Although we have to put the celebration on hold to later this year due to the pandemic, we can't help but to celebrate the success of two current projects that we have completed in the midst of the 2020 Pandemic.
Western Millwork, affectionately known as WestMillAZ, is thriving. Considered an essential company, WestMillAZ and its 250 employees were hard at work on the Allegiant Stadium project in Las Vegas, Nevada and the Talking Stick Resort Arena in its hometown Phoenix, Arizona during the quarantine. The Talking Stick Resort Arena is home to NBA's Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, and Arizona Rattlers. WestMillAZ was awarded the millwork of the $230 million renovation construction work.
Allegiant Stadium is home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas college football team. The 1.8 million-square-foot facility seats 65,000 and includes a retractable natural turf field for the NFL, an artificial turf playing surface for UNLV, large operable walls that open to views of the beautiful Las Vegas Strip, a translucent roof, and a variety of premium spaces throughout all levels. Western Millwork was awarded the millwork contract of the $1.9 billion stadium project which was completed in August 2020. The stunning stadium is now a permanent landmark on Interstate 15 and Russell Road. This was a great 40th birthday present, and we cannot wait to the opening day!
